Who knew a salad could taste so good?

Using good quality olive oil is essential to have the full flavour of the dish. Many countries produce fantastic olive oil and it does not need to be expensive to taste great. I would recommend buying some extra virgin olive oil for finishing salads and dressing pasta. Typically extra virgin oil has a stronger taste and is not used in cooking dishes as much as to enhance the flavour at the end. I like this Philippo Bereo Italian olive oil, but you can also buy other great Italian, Greek or Spanish oils.

This is a great, easy recipe for BBQ Char Siu Chinese Pork

Char siu roast pork is the most amazing BBQ pork with all the favourate flavours of asian cooking. The meat is moist and tender and so versitile. You can use it lots of dishes or eat it on it's own with rice or noodles. It also goes great in a salad.

The cut of pork that you use is up to you. I used thick pork chops as I had them to hand. Pork belly / pork shoulder and pork tenderloin is also used. The thicker the piece of meat, the more jucy and tender the meat is when it is sliced.

Watch the video to see how to cook this great char siu pork.

Ingredients

600g -1500g pork - thick chops / belly / shoulder / loin

2 tbsp brown sugar

2 tbsp clear honey

4 tbsp hoisin sauce

3 tbsp dark soy sauce

1 tsp Chinese 5 spice

1 tbsp sesame oil

2 tsp white vinegar

1 tbsp garlic paste

red food colouring (optional)

This is a very easy and quick way to make minced beef. You can finish with gravy or use the mince to make an endless amount of recipe variations like Italian or Mexican dishes. The mince cooks down to perfectly tender in just 15 minutes so this is a very ecconomical way of cooking.

Minced beef served as minced beef cobbler. You can also see this video below for more inspiration.

Top Tip

For a quick diet cheat, you can add a lamb stock cube to your minced beef to create a low fat version and use in dishes such as moussaka.

You can watch the full instructional video here.

Ingredients

minced beef / lamb

stock cube ( I love Bovril for a great steak flavour)

pepper optional - herbs / garlic / onion

I hope that you enjoyed this recipe and can check out my other recipes and videos.
